Introducing the All New IntraSee.com

We have redesigned IntraSee.com to be simpler and more dynamic. Check us out at www.intrasee.com for a peek at the new site. Tell us what you think by emailing us at contact@intrasee.com

Part of our redesign has been to bring focus to the things that we feel will be critical to your organization over the coming years - like Enterprise 2.0. To that end we will be calling out great articles on the Internet that we feel shed light on this subject in ways that are not jargon heavy or cliche ridden.

For this newsletter we wanted to focus on one key feature of Enterprise 2.0 - Knowledge Management. There are many definitions of what information is, what knowledge is, and what knowledge management is. The crux is that information is useless without the means for harnessing that information to make the correct decisions. This is where knowledge management comes in.

We make decisions every day in our lives and many of these decisions are driven by tribal knowledge that isn't available to the entire organization or is hard to find. Imagine organizing and sharing this tribal knowledge with all the people who could benefit from it. This is the core of what knowledge management is, and that is the ability to take raw, unstructured data and turn that into information that can drive a decision or an action. You would achieve consistent answers, informed decisions and a reduction to the number of calls that begin "How Do I...".

Here's a link to a wonderful article on Knowledge Management and Enterprise 2.0. Be sure to check out the video - it's a keeper :-)

Interesting Industry Quotes

"If your target audience isn't listening, it's not their fault, it's yours."

› Seth Godin, Small is the New Big

IntraSee's Take ...

What is fascinating about this quote is that if you place it next to the two following pieces of research data, a pattern will begin to emerge.

"More than 90% of employees don't understand their company's strategic goals."

› Norton/Kaplan

"Over 80% of a typical workforce is disengaged."

› Towers Perrin Global Workforce Study

What's crystal clear is that organizations are not communicating effectively with their employees. Usually this is because they don't have the tools that connect the experts with their audiences. The result is either too much information, such that nobody can absorb it, or too little information, in a misconceived attempt to avoid information overload.

There is a solution for this particular problem. Using Web 2.0 principles applied to a smart means of communication, a balance can be found for meeting all the criteria for a successful communications strategy.

At IntraSee, this is a problem we see time and time again, and we know how to fix it. Likely you already have the tools in place and just need some help to get you on track. Please contact us to find out how, and we'll be happy to oblige. contact@intrasee.com
